MYTH #2: Meg Whitman Has Made a Lot of Money Selling Satanist Paraphernalia

This depends on what you mean by "a lot."  There's no getting around the fact that Meg Whitman ran eBay and eBay sells a lot of Satanist paraphernalia. I mean, a lot.  

Meg Whitman took over a million dollars in bribes from Goldman Sachs, but as she explained in her autobiography, it wasn't really a big deal because it was "a very small fraction of my investment portfolio." You have to remember that Meg Whitman has a billion dollars. That's a thousand million. So any money she made from selling coven supplies (or bondage pornography) is a tiny, tiny slice of the whole pie.

Meg Whitman settles an Age Discrimination complaint while at FTD. Whitman told some staff members that the company was too "old and stodgy," Carlson alleged. He also said she told a conference room full of senior managers: "We need about 15 killer young executives."

FTD's vice president of government affairs interrupted, telling Whitman that she didn't mean to use the word "young," the complaint said. "Actually, I do," Whitman allegedly replied, "but I get your point."   This story has a Heil Hitler type of picture of Meg.

In addition, Meg Whitman paid $1.78 million to settle a subsequent lawsuit brought by EBay shareholders who said the money she made on the stock deal belonged to them.

What makes Whitman's oft-repeated claims even less assuring is that she refuses to allow journalists to talk to her about them. Whitman had a news conference a year ago after making a speech to the Republican state convention in which she condemned the temporary taxes that the Legislature had just enacted as "devastating." But she dodged reporters' questions about it and then fled the room.

Charitably, she was new to the political arena then and perhaps unprepared. A year later, however, she's still wrapped in an impenetrable cocoon. Whitman has almost no contact with reporters who know something about the budget. She makes set-piece appearances before friendly audiences and shows up on radio and television shows — mostly out of state — with conservative hosts with softball questions.

A couple of years ago, someone was trying to sell Vietnamese women on eBay. The auction went on for three days before eBay closed it down. EBay policy strictly forbids the sale or purchase of humans, living or dead. But you can see where the slave trader had gotten the wrong impression. The CEO of eBay, Meg Whitman, had built a career on one job after another exploiting Asian women, the younger and more vulnerable the better.

Meg Whitman will probably buy a lot of television commercials, and you probably won't hear the word "Republican" much. You'll hear the words "manage," "solutions" and "success." Which is a nice way of saying "She's rich."

And they won't talk about where Meg Whitman got rich before eBay. Her real expertise is in globalization. Which is the nice way of saying Asian sweatshops.
